NON-Profit Financial Management Consultant

We are looking for a seasoned bookkeeping/accounting professional with excellent communication skills, critical problem solving ability, and real world experience managing, designing and troubleshooting financial management systems for small to medium-sized non-profits and other entities. Job Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Meet with potential clients to assess their needs, develop proposals, follow-up as needed.

  • Onboard clients new to the firm, including designing systems, establishing effective communications and workflows, documenting procedures, providing training to clients when needed, and eventually transitioning clients to permanent Account Managers.

  • Project-based and ongoing consulting with clients with higher level reporting/analysis needs or Controller engagements.

  • Managing full-service bookkeeping clients as needed, including temporarily filling in for co-workers

  • Internal consulting to support the rest of the team in providing the best possible services to the clients they manage.

  • Coordinating research and implementation of new apps and other technologies; supporting the rest of team in use of these technologies.

  • Supporting co-workers in understanding and working effectively with non-profit clients, and helping to ensure compliance

  • Keeping up on changes in non-profit compliance standards

Competencies:

  • Complete understanding of accrual basis bookkeeping

  • Financial management system design and implementation in the Quickbooks Online ecosystem

  • Strong communication skills, ability to explain complex accounting concepts to clients, potential clients, and co-workers in an understandable manner.

  • Financial statement analysis and balance sheet audit

  • Full understanding of GAAP standards for non-profit revenue recognition, restricted net assets, and functional expense allocations.

  • Familiarity with non-profit budgeting, grant management and reporting, restricted funds tracking, donor info management, and development strategy

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years full-service bookkeeping experience in Quickbooks

  • Minimum of 4 years experience with accrual basis bookkeeping

  • Minimum of 2 years experience with non-profit accounting

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in financial consulting

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in accounting system design and implementation

  • Experience working with non-profits and a full understanding of non-profit management, development, and grant reporting is strongly preferred

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word

  • Proficiency with remote workplace technologies

  • Comfortable with and quick to learn new technologies

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently

  • Ability to multi-task and take initiative

  • Must exercise confidentiality and discretion

  • Reliable Transportation & Efficient Laptop

Hours:

Average 30 hours/week minimum. Flexible hours with the ability to work remotely. Substantial availability during normal business hours is a must.

Compensation:

$30 to $35/hour. Health benefits, paid time off, professional development opportunities.

ACCOUNT MANAGER / Full-Service Bookkeeper

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities/Job Duties:

The Account Manager position requires taking full responsibility for each clients’ bookkeeping system and guaranteeing accurate balance sheets and revenue/expense statements. In your cover letter, please elaborate on how your work experience has prepared you for this specific responsibility.

  • Managing relationships with Full-Service Bookkeeping clients.

  • Monthly reconciliations and financial report review, including balance sheet audit.

  • Managing A/P & A/R

  • Managing payroll, payroll tax filings, sales tax filings, and other compliance needs

Competencies:

  • Can explain how to do anything in Quickbooks Online

  • Basic understanding of tax rules

  • Understands how to review a P&L and audit a balance sheet

  • Knows how to troubleshoot and fix errors in QBO

  • Able to build complicated, functional spreadsheets that look professional

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years full-service bookkeeping experience in Quickbooks

  • Knowledge of accrual basis bookkeeping

  • Proficient knowledge of QuickBooks, Excel and Word

  • Excited about learning new technologies

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently

  • Ability to multi-task and take initiative

  • Must exercise confidentiality and discretion

  • Reliable transportation

Hours:
